Trend Following AHOY
Greetings KYS and might i apologize for my extended shit and lazy absence, with in no way at all a good excuse, if anyone would like to think of one for me i can add to this to make me look like less of a slacker it would be greatly appreciated. WELL WELL WELL So among basically everything that has happened since i last blogged, Soundwave is definitely up there with the human interest at the moment, so why dont i use some of my marketing tactics and grab my audiences attention by talking about it first, oh on that note can you tell i have actually been listening at tafe? So the first thing that popped to mind the moment it hit midnight last thursday night was goddamn....i hope that Wilhelm rumour was true and look at that, one of my top 3 bands and there they were, middle of the lineup staring me in the face bascally waving HAI... FUCKING ACE! [Jenkins please stay away from the front of the pit during] Apart from that, there are various stand out's to me at the moment, bands that i would like to see but im not too fussed, time fillers between the others, and bands i cant wait for, lets start from the top: *hem hem* Faith No More: Really only heard them a few time to be completely honest with you, but after the announcement and a few more listens, its definitely something im keen for. AFI: Never seen but it brings back the younger days Paramore, TBS, Alexisonfire, TGUK, Wilhelm, Gallows, FYS, SDRE: No explanation needed really, arm in arm sing alongs with good people will be a main component to these bands The Weakerthans and Rolo Tomassi: Thankfully i have a brilliant friend in fellow blogger and local mosh gazelle Brad, whom introduced me to these bands and i became no less than stoked Comeback Kid: Been one of my favourite bands for years now and due to reasons i cant even remember, i have never seen them, Mel you dickhead, so needless to say i will lose my shit. Im sure i have missed heaps, as im quite chilly right now and thinking more about going to press that heater button on rather than how psyched i am. Have decided to also plan a Brisbane soundwave trip, with hopefully/definately the addition of a little dreamworld date, and maybe a nice tan? In short, ill update you on the rest of my ventures since we last talked, La Dispute-Irenes Warehouse.... FML epic, The Gun Runners album....roughly its already a pants party, Best arthouse lineup in a while- The Omen, Stand Defiant, Mindset, Gun Runners, Charging North=Bad hangover, Costume Partys... goddamn, Trying to push through the end of tafe whilst fingers crossing an internship, delays on CD project due to artist being coma-tised by a redback- Get Well Soon Joel! Oh and the weekly 7.45am Saturday morning work wake-up.... *sigh* So i'd say you've heard enough of my boring rants, and goddamn it Sir Marvel and Luke stole my picture ideas, im just gonna leave you with a lazy ass cat, gives you an idea of my absence. Signing off with hopefully a far more interesting blog on the way! xx Mel

Good Evening All!
So... first let me give deep apologies to all of you for my lack of blogging, i have disappointed myself, and let you all down.
But ill back this up with reasons, over the past couple of weeks i have found myself in the end of Semester 1 for tafe, 1 Semester more and im out on my ass! At the end of this, i had about 4 major projects due, including my CD project which i have spoken about in previous blogs. Unfortunately due to a few complications, the CD is not yet done BUT WILL BE, once we have the artwork all finished, its off to pressing and we'll have a sweet result which you all better buy!
I held one final 'fundraising gig', we ended up losing $50 the whole night, reason? Well booking bands isnt fun, bands pull out last minute, other things complicate, but i would like to give a massive shout out to Kill The Matador, who are fucking rad and the best sports. As the show basically failed, self esteem was crushed, and we headed to Next to see Carpathian and receive free beers from an amazing KYS user (<3) all night.
I really dont have too much interesting to talk about at this point to be quite frank, my past week was a bludge, rent week=literally no money, especially when your phone bill is payed the same week, so i lived on 2 min noodles and free bread from work, note to all... NEVER get that low in money, cause owing people money after it is even worse.
1 thing i will say, Melbourne Zoo... Fkn ace, i could literally stand and watch animals all day, Sunday was awesome because of this. I got to stand on the other side of a window a massive gorilla was eating next to on the other side, just wanted to hug it, watched elephants inhale apples, meerkats posing, barrels of monkeys, and Jenkins even got a girlfriend!
I also experienced the worst hotdog i have had in my life.
I also got to go to the filming of Millionaire Hotseat with well, with ma bitch Carla :D, audience members that go there can literally die brutal deaths, nothing worse than inbetween shoots people get time to talk to Eddie, and all they ask is football questions, it bought on thoughts of self harm hearing that over and over. Otherwise, prretttyy sweet day.
Ill write more adventures when i have some better AND hopefully my next blog will contain artwork from the CD Project, again, check it out HERE
Im outty, going to play more AOE3 HHHHEEELLLZZ YEAH xx
On repeat atm? New SYG (htfu album)
La Dispute (thanks CONNOR)

Evening KYS
Firstly let me apologize for my absence in blogging, i have been completely loaded on with assignments, and bookings and frankly i think i have grown even more than 1x h00tmour and 1x brain tumour.
So recently, well apart from the homework factor, i have been job hunting, yes thats right, it all comes with the responsibility of moving out [FML], so i have scored myself a job in this rad little swiss patisserie, in which at the end of the day, they welcome me to fatten myself up by taking a few kilos of food home [MLIA].
CD project is coming along well now, after fears last week we would not have it done on time, i actually have hope it will be in on the due date now... that IS if everything goes according to plan which knowing my luck, thats gonna blow a load in my face and it wont happen. Artwork is being finished this week by the one and only Joel Birch [The Amity Affliction, The Kingdom of Sad Machines]. AMAZING artist, and to say the least, one of the easiest people i have ever worked with, so be sure to get him onto any job you may need done!
Remember again to check out our cd, its going to be a ripper when it comes out... i sure hope :D.
So incase you all hadnt noticed, another resident KYS'er has joined the bloggers world, welcome Fulldong you spring legged man you. I had the enjoyment of watching Brads band last Friday night on what turned out to be an amazingly successful night at The Arthouse, starting with Common Thread, good band, didnt get to see much on account of assisting in merch bitch chores, I also think this is the perfect time to mention i whipped user: conroyyy's ass 10/nil at foosball... suucckkaa. Mindset followed with a tight as set, and a gun of a new bassist, keep an eye on their announcements for next month. The Gun Runners involved Brad repping a nice sleeveless tee, and... well by this time my memory gets blurry, but lets just say AGAIN, them and Anchors blew my fkn Set Your Goals underwear off... brilliant show.
Also, band for this week due to them headlining this show, Grenadiers.... awesome awesome band, i look forward to seeing more from them.
So with that i may have to sign off as my homework break allocated time is WELL over.
Sorry for the rushed blog, i promise the next will be far better and more inspiring.
P.s. Everyone go catch A Death In The Family tonight at NEXT!!

We Will Never Sleep h00t...
Good Afternoon KYS'ers Sorry for those of you in an office but daaayymm is it a good day out, especially with the prospect of winter on the horizon :(
SO, updates, updates....
Well after finally catching the sleep up from last weekend, i must say it was one of the best all year and it was before the weekend started. Wednesday included the sweet serenades of Chuck Ragan and Tom Gabel, impressing me with the layout of the show, which was not like others, including playing a song together, followed by flipping a coin for who goes first then variating between both artists for the rest of time, and both...were amazing, basically fell in love with these 2 punkers, shame they arlready have an old ball and chain. My favourite did have to be the arm in arm group sing alongs with fellow KYS people to 'Pints of Guiness', shame we all only had pots of draught...
Special mention to surprise guest Mel... i dont think anyone has seen my face that shocked in a while hahaha <3 Thursday followed with Mindset playing pretty fkn impressive at Next, one of the best shows i have seen them play.
And to top off everything, was Friday, and my unsureness of what to expect from Bring Me The Horizon (Thanks for the door spot love :)). Drinks and meetings of even more KYS'ers was a beauty to start off with, good dudes. Cancer Bats, tight band, amazing stage presence, guitarist has the hair spin fkn down to a T, shame the spot i scored the sound seemed to have been lost on its way there, so due to this i skulled my beers and headed to the back of the pit, pretty much ensuring death, but i wanted to see this.
BMTH did nothing more than unexpectantly blow my fkn socks off. They were tight as s**t, Oli, against what i had heard from other reviewers, managed to keep his voice and appearance strong the whole time, and overall, the band had improved so much since my seeing of them 2 years ago when they were much younger and almost getting by on looks. So here i am, proudly admitting, although 4 in 5 BMTH are complete utter morans, i am a massive fan of this band.
CD Project update includes the adding of the bands The Omen and Portrayal of Vengeance to the line-up... STOKED. Figured out due to the kicking off of un-replying bands, we wont have this project finished by our deadline date, but thank god for Victorian Tafes and their system allowing extensions yeeeewww. So while on my quest for more and more bands, i have been trying to apply to gain an internship somewhere, which is what i believe could be the foot in the door i need to NOT have to return to schooling next year. More updates when i have them on that kids....
So thats about me signing off for the week, ahead to starting my shithouse weekend, and possibly doing some mopping in the next half hours..... and just noticing as i was typing... i think my hands are getting bonier.... :| A couple of questions, Who is Blogger Luke? He likes Coopers Sparkling so we should be mates. And everyone should read up on Justin and Marvel, just reading these had me tearing up a little... good reads Also, does someone want to design me up a tattoo? i need to feel the burn.....
So signing off with the highlight of Feds, Moustaches, Red Lipstick on tops, and getting smacked in the head by MORANS with tribals, a picture of the arthouse toilets showing what i thought brad may have wrote....oh and free krispy kremes
xx Mel

TGIW?
Good Evening Forumers and Lurkers alike So time for me to smash my second blog while i sit here with a carlsberg awaiting the time i can leave my house in 1 hour 53 mins and 58 seconds and my early weekend starts. Much like your regular Tom Dick or Harry, i tafe during the week and work on the weekends to make a living, this week i decided to vary it up a little starting with a taste of Mr. Tom Gabel and Mr. Chuck Ragan tonight. Only in the past year finding a love in Against Me!, i have never seen them, but im sure that Tom is going to do his best and i will be swooning like a 14 yr old at a BMTH concert. Speaking of that, ill be seeing them as the end of my weekend, in other words, Friday, before i start droning away at work. Now i never saw these guys last time purely for the fact their music sucked although i did love it when i was 17, after so far the one and only review on this show being bad, im even more keen to see what they have to prove and possibly pull off the fkn amazing album they made live.
And inbetween there of coarse is my occasional visit to next, this time because i have done well in keeping up to seeing my now housemates play most shows (apart from 3 or so) since they have come to Melbourne, and i dont plan on letting that slip anytime soon, so i suggest everyone to come down around 9pm see THESE GUYS, as they are on first and deserve a good crowd :D.
As i have mentioned before, i am working on a Cd Compilation for tafe which you can view here. On friday night the rad dude that is Pat from Anchors put together a show at public bar and gave us all the cash that came out of the night, cheers dude. We came out of there with another 1/3 of what we need overall to make this cd happen, so fingers crossed 1 more show and we'll be set.
We have had atleast 6 bands with no reply and mastering in 2 weeks, lets say old Melly is growing a couple of greys but hey we'll be fine, i have a few ideas of bands to ask as there is a bunch of amazing bands these days, someone seriously, get onto the pop punk revival for me? cheers...
But so far this CD project has been surprisingly beneficial, i have made friends with multiple bands who have helped us out, i have made a bunch more contacts in the industry and to be frank all i need to do now is try get an internship with all this haha. So hey if anyone has a free position in their workplace ;) ;).
Here i sign off.... to go join half of you for parmas before we sing arm in arm Highlight of the night so far: ANTICIPATING SEEING BRADS RETURN Band i cant turn off: Anchors..... seriously, fuck, get on it.... im off to get another Carlsberg.....
