Wish For Wings...

So today, or this afternoon rather, I started work on the Wish For Wings album art. They might seem like tough guys, but they're fruits, and they have a really uncanny obsession with bats, but I'll get to that later on...

Because of their obsession with that kind of thing I decided that the first port of call for me, would be coming up with a font that will suit something dark. I thought using an old english font would be cool as I haven't used one in a while, but wanted to make sure that it wasn't just a font from the net or anything so I decided to hand draw it. Most of my logo work starts in my sketch book, I thought I would run you through this as I do it...so I will most likely make another post very soon, probably in the next hour or so hahahaha.

Here are some other things I've worked on this work. Luke has really stepped it up in the photography department, it's good having someone solid I can count on when we head in to do shoots.

Today, I feel like doing this:
Smashing my computer.
Stabbing my computer.
Drowning my computer.
Running over my computer.

Welcome fuckers...

I have a blog, so now I get to spout off about all things Amity, and all things work...work being, for me the lucky son-of-a-bitch I am, working for myself. Currently I am drinking a Coopers pale ale while listening to Misery Signals' new record and eating some totally fucking amazing chips. Shit's rough right?

I worked on this logo today for Thriller, which is a new night starting up here in Brisbane, run by the same people who have made themselves the Lords of the nightclub scene (well, kind of) for clubs like Next and Bang etc etc...You know the ones. Anyway, here is the logo...

With everything I do that is text based I start off by drawing a rough in my sketch book, then shoving that in the scanner, whacking about 10 books on top of the scanner to keep the fucker flat while I scan it, and then importing it into illustrator. I did a somewhat step-by-step kind of animation for this other logo I worked on recently (that was rejected) for A Secret Death, which is this...

That was the drawing part of it...then into the computer...

And it turned out like this

So there you have it...that took about 2 whole days of working, then it was rejected. I wasn't overly happy with that, but life goes on. In my spare time I paint book covers as well, just working on fonts, I am in love with them, always have been. I still get super siked on really good signage, there's just something about it...
