We're half way there...

Now that we'd nearing the middle of June, I figured I'd take a week off posting a "band of the week", and take the opportunity to post some of my favourite records of 2009.

I was originally planning to post a top ten, but as you can see below, it was a little difficult to try and whittle down the list when there's been so many great albums this year.

If the second half of the year is anything like the first, then I'm going to need a top 50 for the 2009!

New Found Glory – Not Without A Fight: Pretty much my favourite band. I doubt the band will ever do another Self-Titled or Sticks And Stones, but it still rules.

Mastodon – Crack The Skye: More rock and less metal but who gives a shit when it's this could. Conceptual wank, epic shred and Sabbath vocals is a huge win in my book.

A Day To Remember – Homesick: Pop punk + mosh = one of the most fun records of 2009

Closure In Moscow – First Temple: Emo kids get stoked on The Mars Volta and drop one of the most creative bombshells of the year

Two Tongues – Self Titled: I love Saves The Day, don't care for Say Anything but really, really dig this.

Gallows – Grey Britain: Pissed off British punks show monumental growth between records.

Atmosphere – God Loves Ugly (re-release): Heartfelt lyrics delivered by a whiter than white rapper... rules

Green Day – 21st Century Breakdown: Fuck the haters. Love this band and love this record.

Architects – Hollow Crown: Cannot wait to see these guys in August. In a word... HEAVY

The Dangerous Summer – Reach For The Sun: Serious contender for album of the year. I hear a new lyric I love every time I listen to this and the music is perfect.

Anchors – Self Titled (EP): Melbourne Fat Wreck devotees bring the speeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeed

Rancid – Let The Dominoes Fall: Skull tatts, reggae, whiskey fucked vocals. Bless ya Rancid

Daylight – Demo: Cranking demo from this new US outfit. For fans of Gainsville (you know what I mean).

POS – Never Better: Well thought and lyrics and creative instrumentation from this rope haired rapper

Isis – Wavering Radiant: Heavier than their last outing which is always a plus. One of my favourite bands EVER

A Loss For Words – The Kids Can’t Lose: Four Year Strong love these guys more than their beards. Nuff said.

Narrows – New Distances: Botch + Unbroken + high levels of awesome = Narrows

Fireworks – All I Have To Offer Is My Own Confusion: Produced by Chad NFG. Cranking, nasal pop-punk anthems.

Shook Ones – The Unquotable A.M.H.: More Lifetime worship than... fuck it, they're great, ok!?

Pulling Teeth – Paranoid Delusions/Paradise Illusions: This record would be depressing if it wasn't so damn awesome.

The following are records that are about to drop that I may or may not have been lucky enough to hear, so let me assure you that y'all are in for some seriously good times with these releases!

Poison The Well – The Tropic Rot

Maylene & The Sons Of Disaster – III

Alexisonfire – Old Crows/Young Cardinals

Set Your Goals – This Will Be The Death Of Us

All Time Low – Nothing Personal

You probably should have included N.A.S.A- Spirit of Apollo. I'll put that down to a rookie mistake though.
