Interviews
Conditions
Conditions are a band that have been enjoying worldwide recognition on the back of their 2010 debut album, 'Fluorescent Youth'. Their widespread acclaim has been met with a relentless touring schedule that will see them travelling to Australia for the first time as part of Soundwave 2012. Kill Your Stereo spoke with guitarist Alex Howard about their music, their upcoming appearance at Soundwave Festival and their rising status in the music industry.
Confession
I doubt anyone on Killyourstereo.com needs an introduction to Michael Crafter. The loudest man in Aussie hardcore had a talk with KYS about Confession's second album, The Long Way Home, recording with metal maestro Fredrik Nordstrom in Sweden and why Frenzal Rhomb is the best punk band in the world. Catch the Confession lads on The Long Way Home Tour with Thy Art Is Murder and Antagonist A.D. across Australia starting October 7.
Closure In Moscow
Closure In Moscow have had a rollercoaster few years, from releasing their hugely well received debut and relocating to the US, to more recently parting with two of their founding members. With the band embarking on the All Ages Tour next month alongside Dream On, Dreamer and Awaken I Am, frontman Christopher de Cinque had a chat about controversy and the eight circuits of consciousness.
Crucial Dudes
Many of you might not be familiar with the name Crucial Dudes, but hidden somewhere in the swamps of New Jersey hail this promising five piece. After just releasing their stellar debut album '61 Penn', we caught up with guitarist Alec to discuss Lifetime, the new record and the state of Pop Punk.
Cruel Hand
Since forming in 2006, Maine's Cruel Hand have become one of the biggest names in American hardcore. Having released their acclaimed third album "Lock And Key" last year via Bridge 9 Records, Cruel Hand will return to Australian shores this month on a nationwide tour with local favourites Phantoms. We caught up with frontman Chris Linkovich to talk hard riffs, fast food and bro-downs with Miles Away.
City and Colour
"The voice is unmistakable – immediately identifiable by those that know it and intensely intriguing to those that don’t". The success story that is City and Colour AKA Dallas green, has come as a blessing to many and a surprise to some, not the least of which being Dallas Green himself. With his haunting but moving melodies, soulful tone and honest lyrics, He is one of the most original and down to earth solo artists to take the stage in recent years. With the release of his 3rd studio album 'Little Hell' coming up, I caught up with Dallas Green to talk about life on stage, making the record and being a little more sexy.
Coheed And Cambria
Coheed And Cambria are a little over a week from making their Soundwave Festival debut. One of the biggest band's in modern prog-rock, they have continued to innovate and set the standard for the genre since their 1995 formation. With all their albums following concepts based on a storyline written by Vocalist Claudio Sanchez, the band released Year of The Black Rainbow - a prequel to their other four albums in April last year. After tonnes of media attention, critical acclaim and solid touring, Australia is about to get their dose of Coheed's latest. Just ahead of their Soundwave appearances, we catch up with Lead guitarist Travis Stever for a chat.
Children Collide
After a string of successful shows at Big Day Out and after revealing that they will be playing Pushover Festival in Melbourne next month, Children Collide are continuing to do what they do best - keep busy. Bass guitarist Heath Crawley stopped in with us to chat about Push Over, Big Day Out and the band's past, present and future.
Confession
After doing a solid amount of touring in the last 12 months, including hitting Europe for the first time, Australia's kings of nu mosh metal Confession are currently writing for their second full-length album, to be recorded and released in 2011. The band will be ending their huge year by being a part of the massive No Sleep Til Festival, which is kicking off this weekend in Auckland. The band's front man and B grade reality TV star Michael Crafter answered a few questions for us.
Citizen
Based in Southern Michigan/Northwest Ohio, Citizen are one of the best new bands in pop punk that I have heard recently. The band's new split EP with The Fragile Season is available to pre-order now from Either/Or Records, but before the split is released we caught up with the band's guitarist Nick to discuss the band.
