Fear Factory
As the pioneers of “cyber metal” and with a career spanning over twenty years, Fear Factory have continued to push the envelope within the contemporary metal scene and show no sign of slowing down with the release of their latest album, Mechanize. Before their Australian tour supporting Metallica in September, Killyourstereo caught up with guitarist Dino Cazares to talk about the band’s past, present and future.
A Fate Untold
The UK has traditionally been a healthy breeding ground for young, up and coming bands. Ipswich pop punk outfit A Fate Untold may not be a household name yet, but with an honest and reliable work ethic the band are well positioned going forward. Having just released a new single, the group’s drummer, Todd caught up with Killyourstereo recently to discuss music, drunken hotel shenanigans and plans for the future.
The Wonder Years
Philadelphia based pop punk band The Wonder Years are set to make their first ever trip to Australia in less than a month now, as well as re-releasing their newest album "The Upsides" through Hopeless Records. The band's vocalist Dan "Soupy" Campbell answered a few questions for us.
Fixtures
For those who have heard their music or seen them play, it is exceedingly apparent that Fixtures are one of the most furiously chaotic ensembles currently terrorising Sydney’s stages. But despite their barbaric exterior, beneath lies a profound intelligence that few bands of such youth could hope to emulate. The band’s vocalist Oliver Cation answered a couple of questions about the current state of the band, and their direction for the future.
Milestones
Brisbane punk band Milestones have had a busy year releasing their debut demo, playing their first string of shows including a support slot with american pop punk band Fireworks. Now after starting to make a name for themselves they have just finished recording their debut EP titled "Growing Up Is Getting Old". Between all the booze, nandos and songwriting guitarist Mitch was kind enough to answer a few questions.
You Me At Six
You Me At Six have already had a massive year, with their newest album "Hold Me Down" clocking in at number 5 on the UK Albums Chart, and the band making their first ever trip to Australia as a part of the Soundwave 2010 line up. The band will be returning to Australia in September for their first ever headlining tour with The Audition and Kids In Glass Houses. The band's drummer Dan answered a few questions for us.
Fire & Ice
For many, Fire & Ice is a new name. Well familiarize yourself, because this Richmond, Virginia four-piece is quickly becoming one of the most talked about bands in the American hardcore scene. With two 7”s on Triple B Records (Bane, Foundation, Rival Mob) and a full length on the way, Fire & Ice are more than just a ripple in the lake of the NYHC revival sound currently mesmerizing the USA. We caught up with F&I drummer Flza to talk about pizza, 50 Lions and the effects of having a table thrown at you.
The Mission In Motion
Sydney's The Mission In Motion have been kicking for a few years now, with countless tours and two EP releases, the band has just recently released their debut album "Somewhere Safe". The band's singer Brett spoke to us about the album, as well as their upcoming tours with Senses Fail and Scary Kids Scaring Kids.
Blkout
Perth hardcore band Blkout got off to a slow start, but 2009 saw them escalate to a level beyond what anybody could have expected from them, releasing a 7" and an LP of raw, unforgiving hardcore. Multiple tours (with the likes of Rise & Fall and 50 Lions), Blkout have returned with a new 7" titled No Justice No Peace. If this is the first you've heard of the band, prepare to be educated in true, unadulterated hardcore. Vocalist Scott Angel answered a couple of questions for us.
Trash Talk
For fans of modern hardcore, Trash Talk should need no introduction. The California four-piece have long been favourites for lovers of angry music, proving a highly influential force in contemporary hardcore with their furious blend of thrash-punk. Having played every noteworthy hardcore festival in the United States, touring to pretty much every corner of the globe with the likes of Alexisonfire and Gallows, and now set to play Australia's Soundwave festival in 2011, they don't look to be stopping anytime soon. With the release of their latest album "Eyes & Nines", the Sacramento locals have enjoyed unprecedented success for a hardcore band as a result of their do-it-yourself ethos and tireless international touring. Vocalist Lee Spielman recently caught up with KYS to chat about Air Jordans, Warsaw and weed.
