Brisbane's Guards of May have received local recognition, with the five-piece winning the 'Heavy Category' at last night's Queensland Music Awards.

Brisbane's Guards of May have received local recognition, with the five-piece winning in the 'Heavy Category' at last night's Queensland Music Awards.

The band won the award for their track, 'Numbers'. Guards of May are in good company with previous winners including The Amity Affliction and A Breach of Silence.

Guards of May will release their debut album in mid 2015.

The group signed with Pricewar Music last year.
