The French post-black metal band will be returning to Australia in April, and will also be visiting New Zealand for the first time.

No matter how you spin it, France's Alcest are a great band. But you may not be entirely familiar with this French duo.

Originally just a solo black metal project for frontman Neige (Stephane Paut), the project would soon evolve into a truly creative connection between this frontman and the band's drummer Winterhalter over the course of 16 years, spanning five very different albums. However, their latest effort which ties into this newly announced Aussie tour, 2016’s epic ‘Kodama’, saw the band meticulously delivering a kaleidoscope of spiritually rich, emotionally warm and soaring sonic layers, all that aimed to land deep inside the soul of the listener, and is perhaps their best work this far.

Influenced by the classic Hayao Miyasaki film, Princess Mononoke, Kodama – which means ‘tree spirit’ or ‘echo’ in Japanese - delved into the idea of one living between two worlds; of not belonging and striving to establish a sense of being through contrasting planes of existence. Of course, it was also a superb record no matter the concepts involved!

So, be sure to Alcest on their returning Australian voyage at the following dates this April:
