Here's Why You Should Be Excited About Groovin The Moo 2017

You've got Violent Soho, The Wombats, Against Me! and, of course, you have the almighty Architects!

Earlier this morning, Groovin The Moo's 2017 lineup was announced and it's a pretty solid lineup, through and through. Yet there's not just one sole reason as for why you should be excited about this year's iteration, but a handful of reasons!

From April 28th in Wayville, South Australia through to the Victorian stopover in rural cesspool that is Bendigo in May, to the festival's end in Bunbury, Western Australia, audiences will get to witness UK's indie-pop legends, The Wombats, Australia's anti-lad outfit, The Smith Street BandThundamentals, Brit-rockers The Darkness, Amy Shark, and the smooth tunes of K. Flay, just to name a few of the better picks.

You also have US punk rockers Against Me! coming down, so if you missed them in 2016 on their headline run, you and your leather jacket can sleep easy now. Oh, and the best Aussies grunge export that isn't old Silverchair records or those two songs from Ocean Grove's new album, Violent Soho, are also a part of the lineup. And something tells me that those last two bands will most certainly help shift a lot of extra liquor at each date, with calls of shoey bound to be abundant.

So far, that's a good lineup, and that's not including the bands and artists I didn't mention.

But when looking at that above lineup, there is another interesting addition to this year's lineup. And this is well and truly the most exciting part!

Each year Groovin The Moo locks in a heavy band or two (typically of the metalcore variety because that's probably as heavy as the promoters go) in order to help diversify and break up the DJ sets, as well as indie and pop bands that litter the annual touring festivals roster. Last year it was In Hearts Wake, in 2015 it was Northlane and in 2014 it was Parkway Drive, which were all very safe bets due to each band being a large national act within the Australian heavy music scene.

So for 2017, the GTM organisers have done it again, this time securing an international heavyweight in the form of - drum roll, please - Architects!

Now, I am a massive fan of Architects and I absolutely loved their latest release, 'All Our Gods Have Abandoned Us' (and I know I'm just one of many people in that boat), so this return from the metalcore champions is definitely a welcome one. Especially considering the anti-climactic end to their last Australian appearance with Bring Me The Horizon last year.

So, will you be going to either of these six Groovin The Moo shows to see the triumphant return of these UK lads? Well, you could... or you could just go along to one of the anticipated headlining shows that Architects should inevitably be announcing soon.

And if they do not announce a small run of headline dates around this festival, then I will fucking sell my cat.
