First, it was Mindsnare, and now Toe To Toe are getting back in the game.
2017 is marking the return of some of Australia’s elite hardcore/punk bands. We saw this recently with Mindsnare’s two new 7-inches. Now, another one of the key staples acts of the Australian hardcore scene is hitting back this year – Toe To Toe.
The veteran Sydney outfit will be releasing their brand new album, ‘Rise Up‘ on April 28th via the old-school independent label, Golden Robot Records, and will be the group’s first release in almost four years.
Always wearing their influences on their heavily tattooed sleeves that would collectively have cost a fortune, Toe To Toe are well-known here in the local scene for their dedication and ethics instilled in them from the 80’s and 90’s era of the genre. This new 12-track release is – on top of being yet another merging of anarchistic street-punk and vintage hardcore – a statement about the band’s longevity. Toe To Toe formed a quarter of a century ago in the distant past of 1992, and their history within the scene and music industry is like many of their peers, one of pure survival, hard struggles and deep conviction.
Raging against the never-ending shitstorm that seems to be stirred up across the globe, Toe To Toe’s message is as important (if not more so) today than at any time throughout their 25 career. And that message is no different with the first song to come from ‘Rise Up‘, the release’s eponymous track and it’s accompanying music video – which is just as anarchistic and anti-capitalist as you’d expect. In its simplest form, it’s a hardcore-punk, riffing anthem about societal frustration and resistance – a call to action to stand up for your rights and for the rights of others and to “never let the bastards win”, as a recent press release put it.

Toe To Toe have also announced that they’ll be playing at Housefox Festival on Saturday, April 22nd for the official Launch for ‘Rise Up’. Find more info by clicking here.
