If Aburden play their cards right, and with a solid EP like 'My Old Friend', big things are bound to come their way.

Yesterday, Melbourne's Aburden reached their latest big milestone - the release of their debut EP, 'My Old Friend'.

Recorded, mixed and mastered by Belle Haven guitarist/Better Half frontman Christopher Vernon at his Perception Studios, this new seven-track release is a concise, dynamic and ambient, yet emotionally cathartic melodic hardcore release. And a solid one at that! I mean, sure, it's nothing necessarily new for this genre but Aburden pulls it off well, and their use of spoken-word sections help to separate the band from their peers somewhat.

Now, this debut EP does omit the band's debut single, 2016's 'Face To Face' (read what I thought about that track here), but it does include the quintet's more recent singles 'Without Me' as well as 'They Say', which closes out the release.

In a strong first outing for this up and coming Melbourne band, 'My Old Friend' actually debuted at #2 on the iTunes Alternative Charts and #14 on iTunes Overall Charts yesterday. "Being able to see our EP up amongst some of the biggest names in music has completely blown us away", said the group upon the EP's release. On top of all that, Aburden's release show for 'My Old Friend' at Wrangler Studios on Sunday, June 4th has only 50 tickets left. So, if you're keen, you can snag a ticket here for the launch show before it sells out!

Stream/watch 'Without Me' below. RIYL Casey, Hotel Books, Being As An Ocean, and a plethora of melancholic emotions.

You can purchase 'My Old Friend' here or stream it in full here.
