Yep, 2018 is going to be another very big year for the rural Victorian music festival.

Happening once more in Gippsland on January 12th, 13th, and 14th, the Tarwin Lower local community will see 7,500 punters flocking in for two days of heavy music, camping, and general but hopefully pleasant shenanigans.

Last night on Triple J's Short.Fast.Loud it was announced that Parkway Drive and The Amity Affliction would return to act as 2018's two main headliners; the former playing 2007's 'Horizons' in full as its past the ten-year mark and is also a damn fine record, while the latter will be celebrating their 15th year as a band and hopefully cycling out the post-'Chasing Ghosts' material for older, better tunes. Sydney's Polaris were also confirmed earlier this week for Unify 2018, so that made three bands out of 29 confirmed bands for 2018 secured before this morning's big news arrived.

So, who are the remaining 26 acts? Well, suss the full lineup below:

FRIDAY, JANUARY 12th:

So... that's the lineup for Unify 2018. What do you guys think!?

Even with a lot of returning faces (Parkway, Amity, Hellions, Polaris) as well as the expected names (Cursed Earth, Void Of Vision), that's a pretty solid list with a couple surprises thrown in (namely Four Year Strong's set, 50 Lions getting back together and Behind Crimson Eyes, who are actually still a band). Also, I am very stoked to see Introvert, Dear Seattle, Outright, Young LionsArteries and Belle Haven on this lineup - they're all great local bands that are really coming up at the moment and such a festival spot is great recognition of their respective talents.

Now, the only things left to do is to make sure you've got the dosh for tickets ($219 for all 3 days) when they go on sale later today at 12:30pm; find out who you're gonna car pool with next year; decide whether or not you're going to drop $6.5K on that fucking ludicrous VIP/cabin house experience; and count down the minutes until Pedestrian run an article about the gender gap surrounding this lineup.

Unify 2018 also has a few other additions to add to this coming year's event, such as:

  • - A quiet, alcohol-free camping area called The Sanctuary, giving you more options (read: not putting up with as many fuckwits) in the campsite.
  • - An on site Yoga class as well as the usual healthy food options for any and all people who want to chill out.
  • - A new camping option called KarTent where you pay a little extra and staff set up a nice little two-person tent (100% water proof recycled cardboard, eco-friendly) on site for you so you can just rock up and not worry about pitching a tent.
  • - A new payment option called Afterpay where you don’t pay for your tickets up front – you do so in smaller installments.
  • - The UNIFY Buses that depart Southern Cross Station will now be cheaper, and the festival now has an official partnership with Banana Bus who'll pick up and drop off from 15 suburban locations in Melbourne.
  • - Parking will now cost money this year (boo) but you’ll get a refund in "UNIFY credit" to use onsite if you have 3 or more ticket holders in your car upon arrival (Yay?). Anyway, carpooling fun will be had next year. There'll also be an official UNIFY carpooling group that will launch in September.

And that pretty much brings you all up to speed for Unify 2018. We'll see you there!
