Introvert are now on a label and have a brand new single out? Bout time, really.

UNFD have been making some really good strides this year to get away from the slowly dying, ever-boring metalcore sound of the bands (y'all know who I'm talking about here) that helped get the label where it is today with the name it currently it has in heavy/alternative music circles. Of course, having some of their best up and coming acts like Ocean Grove and Storm The Sky throw caution to the wind lately and mix up their sounds with stunning results always helps, but looking to sign bands outside of drab metalcore also goes a long way.

This first happened earlier this year with their signing of Perth's Cursed Earth, one of the best hardcore bands that Australia has to offer right now. More recently, we saw this with the signing of relatively unknown yet nonetheless great NSW post-hardcore act, Easy Life. And today, they continue to try and diversify their roster further with the label now signing up Newcastle punks, Introvert. (I always thought Greyscale or Resist Records would've been the perfect label home for these guys but hey, I guess not).

The sounds of this Newwy band - rounded out by guitarist/vocalistAudie Franks, bassist Max Priest, guitarist Mitch Raschke, drummer Frank Stephen Hopkins - is a catchy, emo-meets-90's-grunge-rock sound, one that also borrows heavily from newer acts like Basement and Citizen. Yet it's effective and so much more than just a mere copy-cat job. The quartet did this very well on their solid 2016 three-track EP 'Old Taste' and they've nailed it again on the wintery, moody new banger, 'December'. Classic Introvert!

Introvert released this statement today regarding their signing up with the UNFD overlords:

"It’s a humbling time for all of us to announce our signing to UNFD and we are extremely proud to begin the next chapter of Introvert along with such a well-established, hardworking and passionate team. The label feels like a big family and we’re really keen to get cracking on our debut album. We can’t wait to put out a collection of songs that we really feel reflects the band and ourselves as musicians to a whole legion of new fans. We’re really keen to continue touring to both familiar and new places next year, it’s always been a dream of ours to take our music to as many people as possible around the world and do what we love, so here’s to 2018 as a part of the UNFD family!"

We caught the band live when they opened up for Basement and AFI on the latter's recent September headline Aussie run and they put on one really solid set; something they'll most likely capitalise on to deliver the goods again come their upcoming November East Coast headline tour (dates below). In fact, in that AFI write up, I stated that "I truly feel that big things will be afoot for Introvertlong into 2018", but it looks like some of those big things will be happening and are happening well before 2018 rolls around.

Stream 'December' below or just go buy it here. And look, I don't care which option you take, so long as you listen to it!
