The highly anticipated line-up for Soundwave 2013 is now unveiled, with iconic metallers Metallica taking top billing.

The artist list for next year's festival was officially announced this morning via Triple J's Tom and Alex program and Channel [V].

The aforementioned Metallica are joined by Blink 182 and Linkin Park as main headliners.

Spent all their money on Metallica, had to follow up with second rate 2 dollar washed up bands to co-headline. Metallica is worth it out of pity only, and Anthrax the only genuine interest. At least Scott Ian still has chops. They seriously couldn't try and line up Testament on their Dark Roots tour maybe? Thanks for the tip Jordanbeard2, you must apply for somewhere like MENSA with all that grey matter at your disposal.

Okay, there's still a second announcement to come before you start taking the line up not being tailored to your day as a personal insult. Like it or not, AJ brings a fuck load of bands out each and every year that many would not have the pleasure of seeing. Yeah, it's a festival full of sweaty teens, toughing out the skinny jeans so they still look good but I'm sure you've all been to the festival before and seen a lot of bands you like, regardless of the shit venue, lack of this, too many scene kids.. Check it out, give it a miss, go to BDO, who gives a fuck.

hope the 2nd announcement makes the $200 tickets worth it, this lineup sure as hell doesnt imo. dont see why people cant complain, everyone has their own opinions and it (should) help organisers know what bands people want to see, etc.

8 bands I would pay to see, 3 I'd turn up early if they were to support someone I'd paid to see. Without clashes, that's well worth the ticket price. Plus it'll be easy to see the pop-punk bands I like since the core guys who complain every year will still buy a ticket so they can hang out at the metal stage and continue complaining all day :) Also plus, with less metalheads, line for beer will be shorter
