Suicide Silence frontman passes away

In truly tragic news, Suicide Silence have officially confirmed the passing of vocalist Mitch Lucker.

Suicide Silence posted the message on their Facebook overnight, observing the news.

“There's no easy way to say this. Mitch passed away earlier this morning from injuries sustained during a motorcycle accident. This is completely devastating to all of us and we offer our deepest condolences to his family. He will be forever in our hearts.

R.I.P. Mitchell Adam Lucker - We Love You Brother”


Moreover, Nuclear Blast Entertainment have offered a statement.

"It is with great sadness and regret this morning that we have to report that Mitch Lucker, vocalist of SUICIDE SILENCE, passed away a few hours ago due to injuries sustained during a motorcycle accident.

NUCLEAR BLAST would like to offer our condolences to his family, friends, band members and fans worldwide who are affected by this loss.

He left us doing what he loved to do most. He was 28 years old and will be sorely missed.

Not to be ah insensitive, but can you really say someone 'passed away' when they died in a motorcycle accident.

@SteveC (6): I think you can, as he didn't die in the accident, but died as a result of the injuries he sustained. And yes, it probably is insensitive to nit pick about grammar at this point.

I know it was from injuries. But still, passed away is something I'd associate with someone dying of old age or from a long illness.

I think a lot of people use it as a euphemism. Pretty insensitive.

@SteveC (8): The term "passing away" is used to nullify the explicit aspect of someone dying, it's much more calming to hear someone passing away rather than "dying after injuries caused in a motorbike accident". Poor Lucker.
