More Papa Roach More Papa Roach

Papa Roach are already working on the follow-up to last year’s Ego Trip, their eleventh album, with vocalist Jacoby Shaddix already considering where the band should go next.

Appearing on the Behind The Setlist podcast, Shaddix said, per a transcription by Blabbermouth, “This next time around, we're kind of, like, ‘Are we gonna do a full album? Or are we just gonna release…?’ Because we've released so much music in the last two years,” he said.

Explaining, the Scars singer continued, “Whether it's a live stream of our first album, Infest; we re-recorded some of those songs; we did multiple remixes; I did multiple guest vocal tracks with other groups; and then we released our whole album; and then we released remixes of songs on the album and reimaginations.”

In addition to new music and remixes, Papa Roach have been involved in guest spots and reinvigorated songs. But right now, they want to see how things go.

Shaddix asked, “What’s the tip of the spear?” He added, “I think the next time it's just, like, more focused. We'll do a full release down the road, but right now, I think we're just gonna release a few tracks, just kind of ride it for a minute.”

In a review of Ego Trip, Kerrang! declared, "Papa Roach are not only still with us, but they’re an infinitely more challenging, diverse and simply better band than the one that recorded breakthrough album Infest. New offering Ego Trip rips up any semblance of a rule book, rapping it up and rocking it out with the fervour of any of music’s bright young things."

In April, Papa Roach teamed up with The Used for the epic Cut My Heart Into Pieces co-headline Australian tour. You can check out The Music’s photo gallery from the Sydney show here.

A few weeks ago, Shaddix joined Evanescence at Germany’s Rock Am Ring festival, giving nu-metal fans the thrill of a lifetime by taking on the iconic rap verse in Bring Me To Life.

With both acts slated to perform at Germany’s Rock Am Ring on Saturday, 3 June, it worked out perfectly to have Shaddix reprise Paul McCoy of 12 Stones’ rap verse. His performance ruled – his tone is close to McCoy’s, and the chemistry between Shaddix and Lee on that stage was evident. You can check out the footage here.
