More Plini More Plini

Fresh off a massive support slot with Northlane, guitar wizard Plini has announced a summer 2023 tour with Canadian prog metal group, Protest The Hero and instrumental metal act I Built The Sky from Melbourne.

Starting at the Metro Theatre in Sydney on 28 January, Plini will then stop in Newcastle, Canberra, Brisbane, Melbourne, Adelaide and Perth, concluding the run on 5 February.

Plini isn't only sharing tour news today, though - the maestro is also unveiling a live clip of his track Papelillo, which was shot this June at Sydney's Enmore Theatre opening for Northlane.

"We started booking this tour about one minute after we finally got to do the triple-postponed headline tour last May - the excitement for playing gigs again is back in full swing! Super stoked to have one of my all-time favourite bands (Protest the Hero) joining us, as well as bestie Dave Mackay from the UK joining my band on keys for the tour. If there are any notes left to be played at the end of the night, we will have failed..." Plini shared about the tour.

Plini's musicianship was on full display at Monolith Festival this August, "in impeccably fine form" as he showcased his trademark next-level guitar precision. Lucky enough to attend, Kill Your Stereo wrote about the dynamic set, "What I always love about watching Plini live is that he and his whole band shred through these incredibly complex musical motifs and passages with all the casual ease of someone jamming Jack Johnson tunes around a bonfire on the beach. They’re one of the tightest bands I’ve ever seen, with crisp kicks on the drums and a guitar tone that absolutely sparkles."

Kill Your Stereo also caught the biggest metal tour of the year so far - Northlane, Plini, Sleep Token, and alt. - at The Tivoli. We wrote, "the technical prowess on display was phenomenal. It was always going to be a tough one to follow after Sleep Token's frenetic and dynamic performance, but Plini made up for it through sheer skill and technique on display. The people have spoken and they have said: "More rad, unique, intriguing and beguiling guitar work from Plini, please." Pan, Electric Sunrise and Handmade Cities were absolute standouts of a set marked with thunderous applause."
