Bleeding Through - The Great Fire

Bleeding Through - The Great Fire

31.01.2012 | Kane_H | 3 Comments

'The Great Fire' is consistent but not brilliant. That says it all in its own neat and fashionable way. Unfortunately, at times, it play too close to the former two albums that preceded it. Isolating 'The Great Fire', it's solid but still sounds almost identical to studio albums five and six. For that, we can laud Bleeding Through for their brilliant musical proficiency but we can't award them acclaim for anything overly innovative here.

Bottomfeeder - Bottomfeeder EP

Bottomfeeder - Bottomfeeder EP

It is clear from hearing these four tracks that Bottomfeeder are one of those rare little hardcore punk bands that have been created to deliver a powerful message but above all keep things simple and fun. If they manage to stick to this structure, we can look forward to some more great releases in the future.

Bush - The Sea Of Memories

Bush - The Sea Of Memories

14.12.2011 | LukeC | 0 Comments

The world certainly didn’t need a Bush reunion but on the other hand, probably won’t mind that it has happened either. ‘The Sea Of Memories’ is a record for all Bush fans to reminisce to but certainly won’t head anywhere near the direction of earning the group new fans or raising them back to the level of fame that they once enjoyed.

Boris the Blade - Tides of Damnation (EP)

Boris the Blade - Tides of Damnation (EP)

12.11.2011 | Kane_H | 0 Comments

With each passing Australian metal release seems to come the notion that there is no longer any inferiority between local bands and international outfits. Boris the Blade have a sound (that although still finding its feet) is nevertheless, in both production and overall delivery, just as strong as similar bands playing across the ocean.

Blink-182 - Neighborhoods

Blink-182 - Neighborhoods

18.10.2011 | thommo | 3 Comments

Given that the majority of the album was recorded at separate times due to individual commitments, credit must go to the members for making it sound so cohesive. There’s enough here to suggest that the creative tanks aren’t running on empty and the trio can continue to merge their distinct influences together, while attempting to stay relevant in todays’ industry. Love it or hate it, Blink-182 is back!

Basement - I Wish I Could Stay Here

Basement - I Wish I Could Stay Here

28.09.2011 | maddo | 2 Comments

“I Wish I Could Stay Here” does not sound like a debut album, this sounds like the work of a band who have been making music together for many years now. If this is what the band can achieve in a relatively short time, I am beyond excited to hear what they will produce next. This will be one of the best albums released this year, and I recommend you check it out immediately if you haven’t done so already.

Biffy Clyro - Revolutions: Live At Wembley

For those who are unsure of their feelings towards Biffy Clyro, or simply just don't know them that well, this little package will more than likely make you a fan. The performance is excellent and the song selections do well to give a great overall look at the band and show that the back catalogue is worth investigating. If you already are a fan, you already know what's going on so sit back and enjoy.

Breathe Carolina - Hell Is What You Make It

Breathe Carolina - Hell Is What You Make It

30.07.2011 | ohaiialaska | 1 Comments

Hell Is What You Make it is a mixed bag of tracks. No matter the atmosphere certain tracks (such as “Wooly”) create, the rest of the album proves that this is in many ways a departure from the sound that has gained Breathe Carolina it’s loyal fan base. It was only a matter of time before the band’s two distinct musical styles came to a head, pulling the band’s sound more in one direction than the other, losing the balance they had seemed to find with their previous releases. However, it cannot be said that this album isn't catchy- because it definitely is. If nothing else, Breathe Carolina have proved that they will continue to make music that can get anyone dancing. The band is forcing itself to choose between the mosh pit and the dance floor- and only time will tell which style wins the battle.

Brutality Will Prevail - Sleep Paralysis

Brutality Will Prevail - Sleep Paralysis

10.07.2011 | jem | 0 Comments

You might want to stay awake for this one. Conjuring all sorts of evil and doom, Brutality Will Prevail’s latest 7” effort, 'Sleep Paralysis', casts a shadow over everything bright in a howl that will shake any innocent goer from their midnight slumber. It’s quality over quantity; three tracks offering an overdose of down-tempo chaos sure to stir the dark side of every fan of this style. You're your eyes and ears open for this name, for "when it’s time to sleep, the devil calls."

Blindside - With Shivering Hearts We Wait

Blindside - With Shivering Hearts We Wait

29.06.2011 | LukeC | 0 Comments

When looking at the record as a whole, this is one of the most diverse Blindside releases as far as sound is concerned. An amazing element of the band is that they have always managed to maintain their style and sound despite the fact that their albums are vastly different to one another, this coupled with the fact that the group has managed to stay relevant whilst releasing great music, it’s a wonder why they are relatively unknown by the masses.
