Above all, Captain, We're Sinking write fun, catchy songs and somehow manage to keep things interesting for the entirety of 'The Future Is Cancelled' with little deviation from their formula.

'Pardon My French' may not be an absolutely terrible album, but it certainly isn't by any standard all that good either. Fans of the band will probably enjoy this album, but it won't be winning them over any large amount of new fans, and it won't be helping to leave any mark or make any major impact upon the metalcore scene.

 'Luck' establishes local new boys Ceres in an ideal manner. Five simple tracks that are relatable and enjoyable. That's always the main thing.

Whether it's the choice to release the EP though Jacob Bannon's Deathwish Inc. rather than usual label Matador or something else entirely, there's little denying that 'Oceans With No End' represents a step into a far bleaker environment for Cold Cave – both sonically and lyrically. The end result is two of the more intriguing tracks to come from the band that make up for some of the less interesting moments on the last album. A promising release.

Collider stands up because of its boy band likability and easily accessible chorus driven song writing, but other than that there aren’t many redeeming qualities to speak of. Writing an album is a difficult feat to get right, and Collider makes the entire process feel slightly exhausting. Remaining dissapointingly repetitiive throughout, listeners are better off skipping straight to the last song to get the most out of this album.

Idle Hands is a brilliant full-length debut from Continents, it captures their live ethos and tenacious sound easily, and it is a sterling explosive starting point for the group. It would be curious to see their direction after Idle Hands, if they are capable of delivering more of this carnage or fall short. Either way, this album is energetic punch to the face that’ll sadistically make you crave more.

Cola Wars biggest challenge is, and will continue to be for awhile, the shrugging off of the Bodyjar comparisons. That being says, Bodyjar fans will love this stuff as it sounds similar, but with a harder edge and mature approach to the song structures. Regardless, this is good rock music, so let's hope there is plenty more to come.

Climates is one of hardcore’s most though provoking bands, and while they’re not doing anything bands like Departures and Worthwhile haven’t tried already, What Means Most is a stellar example of why melodic hardcore is such a big deal in heavy music society.

Due to its diversity, the second half of The Afterman is much better than the first. There is far more colour and it is possibly the most musically adventurous Coheed & Cambria have ever been on a record, so for those who may have been tiring of their solo laced rocking, this will re-ignite your Coheed spark. Plus you will know doubt want to find out what happens to The Afterman...

With their self-titled, Comadre have thrown any creative restraints of punk and hardcore to the wayside, allowing a plethora of varied influences and genres to seep through their songwriting. It's a move that ultimately pays off, delivering the band's most creative effort to date, and one of the most unique hardcore records in recent memory.
