Enter Shikari - Common Dreads
While Common Dreads is musically offbeat (but not off-tune), its tempo is always changing and its this unpredictable insanity that really makes Enter Shikari stand out above the rest. But with the reoccurring lyrical content cleverly yet obviously tongue in cheek, it makes one wonder if Enter Shikari are actually taking the piss out of themselves and music industry as a whole by creating a style that is un-definable, mischievous and defies all laws of musical composition. But life's too short to pigeonhole bands by genre, so 'grey areas' are applaudable in my books (and on my iPod), especially when they sound as spot on as these insane poms. Go nuts!

Energy - Invasions Of The Mind
Backed by a solid label and with an already impressive live reputation, Energy have “next big thing” written all over them.

Emmure - The Respect Issue
Not many bands do this style of
music well and Emmure sure as hell isn’t one of them. Wait
another month and get yourself a copy of the new The Acacia Strain record.
Oh yeah, the artwork is appalling!

Elora Danan - We All Have Secrets
This is a stunning debut from
a band that clearly has big things ahead of them. Make sure you check
them out on the Boomtown Showdown throughout November!

Every Time I Die - The Big Dirty
If you’re a fan of Every Time
I Die then I have no doubt that you will love this record – the riffs
are flawless, the drumming is amazing as usual and Keith Buckley’s
lyrics are rife with the sarcastic social commentary that we’ve come
to love. Album of the year contender for sure!

Enter Shikari - Take To The Skies
People are either going to love
or hate this band, but at the very least they’re original. Hell, some
of the more melodic moments on “Take To The Skies” have an almost
power metal feel to them. Some people will argue that they’re simply
ripping off Horse The Band, but HTB never displayed such straight up
rock and pop influences.
At least give these guys a listen
before writing them off. I’m sure we should be expecting a tour announcement
some time this year.

Escape The Fate - Dying Is Your Latest Fashion
If Escape The Fate stops caring about what everyone else is doing in the world of rock then they may have a bright future ahead of them. Until that time, they are only ever going to sound as good as the latest release from Victory Records every expanding screamo-lite roster.
