Grenadiers - Songs The Devil Taught Us

Grenadiers - Songs The Devil Taught Us

With Triple J already heavily backing the band, “Songs The Devil Taught Us” should launch the band into being one of the real forces to be reckoned within the Australian live music scene.

Ghost Town - Calamities

Ghost Town - Calamities

“Calamities” is good enough to not just get the band noticed on a national scale, but internationally as well. Big things are sure to be on the horizon for Ghost Town if they continue heading down this path.

Green Day - 21st Century Breakdown

Green Day - 21st Century Breakdown

It seems that many of Green Day’s detractor’s chose to focus on the “is it or isn’t it punk” argument, rather than acknowledging the ambitious musical and lyrical content that’s been put forth by this incredibly talented band. Set aside your notion of what Billie Joe, Mike and Tre SHOULD be playing and just enjoy the jams that they ARE committing to tape, because quite simply, 21st Century Breakdown will go down as one of our generation’s classic albums.

Grey Britain is sure to please those that are already on board the Gallows bandwagon, and for those that aren’t; you’d be well advised to give the band another chance.

Gyroscope - Breed Obsession

Gyroscope - Breed Obsession

I seem to have mixed feelings towards this record. The release of the album has been pumped up to extraordinary lengths and upon first listen it disappoints. However, if you have the time to give the record a few spins it grows on you like a pimple you can’t wait to squeeze. Although a smashing attempt at a more mature sound, it’s evident that Breed Obsession is an exercise in evolution, not perfection.

Gallows - Orchestra Of Wolves

Gallows - Orchestra Of Wolves

Although they’re talented songwriters in their own right, Gallows are still a young band with plenty of room left for growth and development. A lot of the songs on “Orchestra Of Wolves” have some fairly similar riffs but if tracks like “Abandon Ship” are anything to go by, then album number 2 could be something special.

Cute, but ultimately the dark facade does little to disguise a dull core.

A solid effort from Hammer Head, but probably worth holding out for a solo release. Get A Grip are really boring.

Gym Class Heroes - As Cruel As School Children

Gym Class Heroes - As Cruel As School Children

11.03.2007 | boxhead | 7 Comments

Putting aside the celebrity support (and the accompanying hype machine that is working over time), Gym Class Heroes have created an enjoyable pop record – albeit an inconsistent one. The band now has a platform to build upon for their next release, and I hope they make the most of it.
