Album Review: Hellyeah - Unden!able

"Hellyeah's output has typically been about as deep as a puddle."

More Hellyeah More Hellyeah

Fleeting moments of introspection aside, Hellyeah's output has typically been about as deep as a puddle. Such a brand of brawling, boozy party-metal has its place, but they possess little staying power once the hangover kicks in.

This LP's somewhat darker tone is interspersed with occasional radio-rockers, a posthumous Dimebag Darrell appearance (Phil Collins cover I Don't Care Anymore) and even power balladry. The star-studded collective can admittedly craft a worthwhile groove or hook (Leap Of Faith) at times, although selected lyrics induce cringes. Even with new members on board, at its best, Unden!able is mediocre and formulaic, and at worst, insipid.
