Lamb of God - Resolution

Lamb of God - Resolution

22.01.2012 | Kane_H | 0 Comments

It would leave a bad taste in the collective mouths of listeners if 'Resolution' failed to set the early tone in 2012. Thankfully, the aforementioned release presents everything one would expect. 'Resolution' digs itself in and revels in a dense sound that will put a smile on fans faces as they surely headbang along.

Lydia - Paint It Golden

Lydia - Paint It Golden

Lydia never really reached a point where fans would be too precious about the line-up or think that Antleman producing new music under the old band name would be sacrilegious, which allows everyone to sit back and enjoy ‘Paint It Gold’ for the excellent indie rock record that it is.

Like Moths To Flames - When We Don't Exist

Like Moths To Flames have offered up a completely generic sounding record without a single attempt at originality, which these days, is just simply unacceptable.

Laura - Twelve Hundred Times

Laura - Twelve Hundred Times

Having witnessed this band's amazing live show I can safely say they are able to translate the experience to their records as well. 'Twelve Hundred Times' is one of the group's more accessible albums thanks to its slightly less wild arrangement structures and use of vocals, so if you don't know the band, now is a good time to get on board.

La Dispute - Wildlife

La Dispute - Wildlife

27.10.2011 | LukeC | 5 Comments

‘Wildlife’ is a huge step up in maturity from the band’s debut. The ideas used, both lyrically and musically, have come from a group completely focused on originality and constant progression. If you manage to be able to swallow the pill that is La Dispute, you are in for one hell of a trip.

Limp Bizkit - Gold Cobra

Limp Bizkit - Gold Cobra

02.07.2011 | LukeC | 2 Comments

Going into this record with pretty low expectations I was pleasantly surprised and thoroughly enjoyed the listen. 'Gold Cobra' does nothing to modernise the band's sound or attempt to make them relevant once again, instead it is more of a throwback to the Limp Bizkit we all used to know and love with a result that lands up amongst their best works. If you once loved Limp Bizkit, and approach this record with the right amount of good natured humour, then you will agree that this truly is, the year of the cobra.

Living With Lions - Holy Shit

Living With Lions - Holy Shit

25.05.2011 | SteveC | 2 Comments

Canadian pop-punk act Living With Lions are back with their brand of melodic, catchy punk-infused rock, and Holy Shit doesn’t disappoint. Big hooks, melodic, biting guitars and catchy, sing along chorus after chorus are all here in typical Lions style. While Living With Lions have forged their own recognisable and unique sound, there is little to no artist growth to be found here, the boys sound much the same as they did in 2008, but if it ain’t broke, why fix it?

Lemuria - Pebble

Lemuria - Pebble

20.03.2011 | maxw | 1 Comments

Sadly “Pebble” is nowhere near as good as I would have expected. It’s less fresh, less catchy and ultimately less interesting than past efforts, which is incredibly disappointing. While promising to be one of indie’s most respected new bands, Lemuria have unfortunately failed to meet the mark set by prior releases such as “The First Collection” and “Get Better”.

While nothing revolutionary, this is a raw, aggressive, and incredibly powerful post-hardcore album that is undeniably enjoyable. Hopefully a sign of a great future for this band.

Lacey - Ropes

Lacey - Ropes

24.10.2010 | LukeC | 2 Comments

'Ropes' is a fantastic first release for Lacey as it demonstrates their ability to write catchy pop hooks without sounding too commercial, it is for this reason that they will no doubt appeal to many, and possibly becomes Perth's next big act.
