Album Review: Mental Cavity - Aneurysm

"... Akin to 'Remission'-era Mastodon jamming on Slayer and Entombed covers with Matt Pike."

More Mental Cavity More Mental Cavity

Featuring several members of Canberra sludge/hardcore kings I Exist, Mental Cavity have inherited that outfit's worship of the almighty riff, while also having a penchant for unbridled speed.

Even nastier and dirtier, Aneurysm is akin to Remission-era Mastodon jamming on Slayer and Entombed covers with Matt Pike, before rehearsal finishes and everyone parties while blasting the Eyehategod catalogue. A two-pronged vocal attack more scathing than the reviews of an Adam Sandler Netflix movie is an appropriate foil for the rollicking intensity maintained throughout. And with a dozen tracks clocking in at half an hour, it doesn't mess about either. Blistering.
