Nails - Abandon All Life

Nails - Abandon All Life

17.03.2013 | BlakeG | 0 Comments

For the most part, 'Abandon All Life' doesn't tread much new ground for the band, but ultimately sees them grow more proficient as songwriters and performers. It's an extremely fast, hostile piece of heavy music, and if you enjoyed 'Unsilent Death' you'll love it. If you're yet to hear the band it serves as a savage introduction, and clocking in at less than 20 minutes there's little time to find yourself bored - just make sure you don't end up punching a wall in throughout.

Neck Deep - A History Of Bad Decisions

Neck Deep - A History Of Bad Decisions

17.03.2013 | Nash | 0 Comments

Despite wearing their influences on their sleeve, 'A History Of Bad Decisions' helps to further progress Neck Deep's take on modern pop punk. Embodying the genre's well-worn tropes of fast-paced tempos, angst-laden lyricism and memorable vocal melodies, the three-track EP is a firm reminder of the UK band's potential to achieve bigger and better things as their career continues.

Nick van Breda/Zzzounds - Split 7

Nick van Breda/Zzzounds - Split 7"

24.02.2013 | BlakeG | 0 Comments

This split finds two musicians known for playing in quite loud punk bands and sees them more than adept at going it alone. In just under seven minutes, their brand of sentimental, barebones acoustic music proves that sometimes a guitar, a voice and some honest, sincere lyricism is enough to make a quite profound emotional impact on a listener.

Not On Tour - All This Time

Not On Tour - All This Time

10.02.2013 | TashS | 0 Comments

There isn’t enough word space or time to completely emphasise how exciting and refreshing ‘Not On Tour’ really are. What started out as a joke for the band, became the explosive talent of ‘Not On Tour’ who, if there is any justice in the music industry, are unlikely to stay unnoticed for long.

Neurosis - Honor Found In Decay

Neurosis - Honor Found In Decay

04.11.2012 | jackp | 0 Comments

'Honor Found In Decay' is another shining example of why Neurosis are one of contemporary metal’s most valuable assets. Equal parts challenging and mesmerizing, studio album number ten is an assured effort from the Californian outfit and one that’s bound to continue to influence modern thrashers like Mastodon, Baroness, Kylesa and countless others. Sure, plenty have followed in Neurosis footsteps, but there’s still no one else quite like them – a feat very few bands achieve.

NOFX - Self Entitled

NOFX - Self Entitled

Musically, 'Self Entitled' holds it's own alongside classic NOFX albums like 'Punk in Drublic', but with a lyrical wisdom that shows a middle-aged bitterness, resulting in a record that is more serious than one would expect from this band.

Nada Surf - The Stars are Indifferent to Astronomy

Nada Surf - The Stars are Indifferent to Astronomy

12.07.2012 | BENJAMIN.MUIR | 0 Comments

This album is an impressive feat of pop songwriting. Nada Surf as a band have oftentimes neglected their potential, but this album shows what their previous efforts have arguably lacked. It's good, if easy listening the whole way through, but a few token louder pieces or a straight up ballad would be nice to interrupt the constant verse-chorus structures that make it up in its entirety. If you're already a fan, this album is no doubt a standout amongst the band's back catalogue, and if you're not, it's a pretty good place to start. But maybe put it on shuffle with some other songs, or it will border on monotiny. A solid effort, it earns its high rating thoroughly.

Nine Sons Of Dan - The New Kids

Nine Sons Of Dan - The New Kids

The band's intentions are made fairly clear with this EP, they are shooting for the big leagues and they have the sound necessary to give them a good shot at it. The EP may be a few clever hooks and gimmicks away from standing above the pack but it certainly paints a picture of a group who have the potential for serious commercial success.

Ne Obliviscaris - Portal of I

Ne Oblivisicaris present an album that justifies early praise and should serve as representation of a band doing things the right way. Perhaps it's an entirely subjective and early call, but this is one of, if not, the Australian metal album of the year.

No Trigger - Tycoon

No Trigger - Tycoon

25.02.2012 | LukeC | 1 Comments

Many gave up hope due to the huge gap between No Trigger records but 'Tycoon' is their finest release to date. Whilst the style does not vary drastically between tracks, the level of songwriting that the group are currently capable of ensures that there is never a boring moment, with enough sections to stay stuck in the mind.
