The Dillinger Escape Plan - One of Us is the Killer

The Dillinger Escape Plan - One of Us is the Killer

17.05.2013 | RobFoster | 1 Comments

'One of Us is the Killer' is a whirlwind of complete and total chaos, and The Dillinger Escape Plan have once again proved they are at the top of their game, venturing into territories that some musicians wouldn't even imagine existed. The band have delivered what could arguably be their best record yet, and have put out a strong contender for album of the year.

The National - Trouble Will Find Me

The National - Trouble Will Find Me

'Trouble Will Find Me' sees The National at the top of their game. The 13 songs on the album demonstrate a clear, mature yet visceral approach, delivered with professional finesse without sounding by-the-numbers and instead bold and self-assured. There's a definite sense of coherency and it feels like an “album” album moreso than anything the band have done in the past. An incredible record.

The Wonder Years - The Greatest Generation

'The Greatest Generation' is a very strong record, and something that The Wonder Years should be proud of presenting. It brings to the table everything we have come to love about the band and more, with many songs that are bound to become long time favorites for any fan of the group.

Twenty One Pilots - Vessel

Twenty One Pilots - Vessel

'Vessel' is an inviting listen. It's eccentric, it's eclectic and keeps interest. There are moments that feel hollow and maybe just repetitive though. It's still a balancing act for Twenty One Pilots. For the time being, you accept the bad because the good seems to outweigh the most.

The Bunny The Bear - Stories

The Bunny The Bear - Stories

03.05.2013 | h0lywood | 0 Comments

The clean vocals on 'Stories' show the potential for some kind of successful music, but mixed with these harsh growls and incohesive attempts at both electronic and, dare we say, metal, the album lacks structure and substance. Honestly, this 'experimental hardcore' should have stayed a garage experiment.

Terror - Live By The Code

Terror - Live By The Code

29.04.2013 | SEBISAWESOME | 0 Comments

Terror have returned with another impressively solid hardcore album, Live By The Code. It’s a relentless assault of hard as hell vocals and crushing riffs that truly cements why they are so favoured and regarded as pioneers. It’s true to their sound and ethic, without compromising on their original formula. It’s undeniably addictive, and will definitely be favoured instantly.

Tigers Jaw, Code Orange Kids, Self Defense Family and The World Is a Beautiful Place - 7" Split

While this split may at times stumble and fail to impress, it’s Tigers Jaw and TWIABP that prop it up on their shoulders to rise above the crowd of splits coming out around Record Store Day.

Title Fight/Touche Amore - Split

Title Fight/Touche Amore - Split

21.04.2013 | TashS | 0 Comments

Both Touche Amore and Title Fight have earned their place at the top of the post-hardcore pile, and it's this rather unique Record Store Day Split that proves it. A release that is sure to be on repeat for most of their fans, and may just be the push those unsure about jumping on the post-hardcore bandwagon closer to getting over the line.

Transit - Young New England

Transit - Young New England

14.04.2013 | BlakeG | 0 Comments

Ultimately, with 'Young New England', Transit feel like a band unsure of how to properly progress. Ideas feel like they're yet to be worked to their full potential, and the overall lack of vigour drag down the album - particularly given how enjoyable and interesting the band's last couple efforts have been. At the end of the day, 'Young New England' is simply an 'okay' record, which - as a follow up to 'Listen and Forgive' - simply feels like a step backwards.

The Red Jumpsuit Apparatus - Et Tu Brute?

The Red Jumpsuit Apparatus - Et Tu Brute?

Perhaps as an avid fan in my adolescence of songs like ‘Damn Regret’ and ‘Face Down’ I’m being too harsh on Red Jumpsuit Apparatus and new listeners and old fans may have an entirely different outlook on 'Et Tu Brute?' While the band must be given credit for the 10 years they have been consistently producing music, 'Et Tu Brute?' fails to provide listeners with a reason to want to see the band keep going.
