The Hot Lies - Emergency! Emergency! (Single)
When your band is peddling “by
the numbers” pop rock, your vocalist better have something special
up his/her sleeve. Unfortunately for “The Hot Lies”, they just don’t
have it.

The Burning Season - Onward Anthem
Unfortunately, TBS still feel
the need to dabble in the mosh game. Just when I’m really starting
to get into “Onward Anthem” along comes an unnecessary breakdown.
If they stopped giving a shit about writing songs which will get kids
in the pit excited, then The Burning Season could develop into
a really good band – as opposed to an average metalcore band.
I’ll definitely be keeping my
eye on The Burning Season from here on in. They’ve got the potential
to write a really great record – here’s hoping they do it!
Props to the lead guitarist as
well, the guy can fucking wail!

The Unseen - Internal Salvation
Great record from a band of genuinely nice guys and I’m looking forward to another trip down under! With the band appearing on the 2007 US Warped Tour I can’t see any reason why The Unseen can’t achieve the same level of popularity as a band like Against Me.

The Dear Hunter - Act I – The Lake South, The River North
Giving a blow by blow account of each track wouldn’t do this EP justice - it needs to be listened to as a whole. The Dear Hunter now have a full line up and a new record which I plan on picking up shortly, and I can only hope a tour down under is on the cards!

The Devil Wears Prada - Dear Love: A Beautiful Discord
After checking the band’s MySpace page and seeing that they’ve had 3 million hits I’m incredibly disheartened with the state of heavy music in the year 2007 because this means that there are thousands of kids out there who think TDWP embody the term heavy metal! The band has a new record coming out late August and I can only hope that it’s an improvement on “Dear Love: A Beautiful Discord”.

Tiger Army - Music From Regions Beyond
Music From Regions Beyond is a
great collection of songs, one which has encouraged me to delve further
into Tiger Army’s back catalogue and see what else they have to offer
but as I said earlier, I feel the amount of guests on the record is
a bit much. Tiger Army has written an excellent record and don’t need
to rely on their famous friends to shift units.

Trial And Error (Compilation) - Trial And Error – Volume 7
It doesn’t matter if you’re buying this record so you’ve got a mix for a road trip or if you’re new to the world of hardcore and you just want to see what’s out there. Either way, its well worth your time and money.

The Paper & The Plane - An Introduction
At present, TPATP are label-less
so your best to get your hands on this CD is to hit them up at http://www.myspace.com/thepaperandthep
The Paper And The Plane will be playing their first shows outside of Queensland in support of Brand New (USA) so make sure you check them out!

The Amity Affliction - High Hopes (EP/DVD)
With an EP this strong the sky’s the limit for The Amity Affliction. If they can maintain a steady lineup then there’s no reason why they can’t reach the same level of popularity that The Getaway Plan and Behind Crimson Eyes have!

The Higher - On Fire
There is no doubt that "The Higher" will become a big band. They've got the sound, the look and the right people backing them - Epitaph boss Brett Gurewitz was even quoted saying that "The Higher" will become one of, if not the biggest, bands in Epitaph history - give "On Fire" a listen if you're up for some easy on the ears fun.
