Various - Punk Goes Pop Vol. 4
The issue of attracting bigger name bands still seems to be a problem for ‘Punk Goes Pop,’ which when coupled with the fact that pop music these days sucks, it is hard to see this series ever climbing out of the hole. It seems as though they are now flogging the dust that used to be the bones of a very dead horse.

Various - FReeZACentral Mixtape
As mentee John Lingard said, “Mixtapes are all about discovery…the gift of new music never gets old.” And that is definitely the case with Mixtape. It is bound to be very hit and miss depending on personal preference, but there is definitely something to cater to everyone’s musical preferences. The CD provides a great and exciting look at some up and coming talent in the music industry. Just like every other compilation CD, there is a treasure chest of musical goodness waiting to be explored, so see what you can find.

Vanna - And They Came Baring Bones
If there is an instruction manual on how to create a great sounding metalcore album then Vanna have definitely followed it. And They Came Baring Bones is a solid release from start to finish, however it isn’t a release that will help them stand out in the increasingly large crowd that is the metalcore scene. Familiarity aside, it is a great album full of heavy songs, made up of perfectly layered vocals and instruments. It will squeeze every ounce of anger out of you and ensure you can’t stand still. One thing is certain; despite everything Vanna have been through, And They Came Baring Bones is their best release to date.

Various - Homefront: Songs for the Resistance
There's no sitting on the fence when it comes to cover albums. Some will lap this up for what it is - a casual, entertaining and contrastive affair while others will equally throw their hands up shouting blasphemy. Either way, 'Homefront' serves its purpose. Now can someone contact Converge and Mastodon for a volume 2?

Valencia - Dancing With A Ghost
Overall this is a relatively good album, however there is not really anything special about it, there are a few standout songs including "Losing Sleep" and "Friday Night" however it does take a couple of listens to get into the album as the majority of the songs are not what Valencia fans are use to...however with saying that, it’s not always a bad thing.

Valiant Jones - Cowards
Meakin is doing you a favour, he is giving you the opportunity to get in early and become a fan thus saving you the embarrassment of having to jump on the bandwagon the will eventually follow, it always does when the music is this good this early.

Various - Punk Goes Pop Vol. 3
More than anything else this record serves as proof that this series has had its day and should probably call it quits before all dignity is completely lost.

Vultures - I Don't Blame You
“I Don’t Blame You” is proof that Vultures are up with the best bands in the country playing this style of hardcore, and if this release is any indication of the band’s potential, something really great is in the works for this band.

Veil of Maya - [id]
Will Sumerian ever put out a spud release? It’s looking unlikely.
