War Hound - Return of the Hardstyle
This EP is in no way groundbreaking, but it is 9 entertaining minutes of some of the heaviest New York style hardcore heard in the last couple of years. Back this with catchy lyrics touching on heartbreak and betrayal amongst other things and you have yourself an EP that you will listen to mutiple times a day.

We Came As Romans - To Plant A Seed
We Came As Romans have mainly made a paint-by-numbers metalcore record, however there are enough glimmers of outside the square thinking that hint there may be more to this band than 'To Plant A Seed' implies.

War from a Harlots Mouth - MMX
Certainly better than your run of the mill heavy release and probably one of metalcore’s better-constructed albums of 2010. Just how credible this compliment appears is purely up to the listener to decide.

Whitechapel - A New Era of Corruption
Structurally ‘A New Era of Corruption’ is a sound and confident release. Worth a listen, however there still feels like something, albeit subtle, is missing from making Whitechapel one of metal’s modern day elite acts.

Woe of Tyrants - Threnody
There is an inherent charm in discovering an album that conventional wisdom suggests should be generic yet turns out to be the direct opposite. ‘Threnody’ is by no means a masterpiece but is almost the antithesis of all things derivative, nonspecific, and boring in heavy music today.

Wolfmother - Cosmic Egg
An artist should always be asking themselves two things: Did I/we improve? Did I/we do something new? Cosmic Egg does neither of these things.

Westbound Train - Come And Get It
Way, way better than you’d think. Or at least way better than I thought. Sharp effort rude bois.

We Are the Emergency - Seizure EP
Seizure is impressive to say the least debut release by Perth band “We Are the Emergency”. So many intricate parts, put together so well shows why WATE are the Emergency in Perth at the moment! This could be very well be the best debut EP that will come out of Perth this year and it’s only just begun!

Worms Of The Earth/The Surrogate - S/T
Splits are cool to listen to but shit to review because I end up feeling
like a jerk. Even though The Surrogate were overshadowed in this particular
case, they still demolish most other bands around and I’ll definitely
be keeping an eye out for them in future.

Walls Of Jericho - Redemption
Oh yeah, don’t listen to the
cover of "House Of The Rising Sun"! I love that song and the last
thing I needed was to hear it butchered by Candace and co!
