Blackpool Lights - This Town's Disaster
There's nothing complex about Blackpool Lights. They're effectively a rock band writing and playing pop songs... and doing it damn well!

Coliseum - No Salvation
There's no clever way to describe
a balls to the wall rock n roll record. All you need to know is that
Coliseum are an aggressive, no frills band who have made one of the
dirtiest and most enjoyable albums of 2007. Get on it!

Anime Fire - Where The Wolves Fear To Tread
When it comes to reviewing Australian
bands I usually do my best to find something positive about the release
and focus on that, but I really struggled with Anime Fire. One thing
I did enjoy was the packaging, but if the artwork is the most impressive
thing about an EP then I think the band may be in a bit of trouble.
Fingers crossed that Anime Fire's
songs sound better in the live surrounding.

Dropkick Murphys - The Meanest Of Times
But for all my cynical shit talk, this record is a total riot, and pretty
much everything you’d expect from these mick bastards. Full of sing-alongs
and tin whistle and dudes singing like pirates, definitely worth a listen
if you’re a fan of the style.
*If you don’t know who these bands are, grow a set and school yourself
toy!!!

Fifty Sixx - Prescriptions For The Rich (EP)
The packaging (courtesy of The
Kingdom Of Sad Machines) of this EP looks fantastic and the production
– while a little too polished for my liking – does the band's songs
justice. I'm keen to see what these guys can come up with next time.

Lifetime - Lifetime
Say what you want about Pete Wentz
and Fallout Boy, but the dude was kind enough to sign Lifetime and in
turn, give us another punk rock classic. Buy it, learn the words and
go sing-a-long when they hit your town in December!

Black Lodge Sounds - Demo 2007
This is easily one of the most
impressive demo CD's I've heard in 2007, so do yourself a favour and
go watch the band pull these tunes off live!

The Getaway Plan - Streetlight (Single)
On the back of this recording
I think it's safe to say that 2008 will be the year for The Getaway
Plan.

Thrice - The Alchemy Index Volume I & II
As I said earlier, if you want
to listen to a quality punk/metal hybrid then go and give The IllusionOf Safety a spin but if you're prepared to embrace what Thrice have
become then this album will be one of the most satisfying listens of
2007.

Jimmy Eat World - Chase This Light
If you're a fan of Jimmy Eat
World then you are going to love this record... simple as that! If for
some strange reason you are yet to fall in love with this band then
this might be the record that convinces you.
