The Human Abstract - Midheaven
It’s hard
not to be annoyed with the sophomore release from the human abstract.
It’s nowhere near as captivating as its predecessor Nocturne and at
times had me wonder what went wrong. But at the end of the day
at least it’s not the new Bury Your Dead album.

The Mission In Motion - A Curse, A Calling
If The Mission In Motion
keep this up it won’t be long before mainstream recognition comes
knocking on their door.

Trial Kennedy - New Manic Art
Pretty
good work from the Trial Kennedy boys, musically they are evolving,
which is going to attract a new crowd. For diehard Trial
Kennedy fans they are either going to embrace the changing style
and go with it or not go with it at all. I really enjoyed the album
and I say give it a go, it’s bound to grow on you.

Carpathian - Isolation
Much has been made of Carpathian’s musical transformation, but when a band spends as much time on the road as these kids, your tastes, influences and attitudes are bound to change. At the end of the day, they’ve created a fantastic record, one that deserves the full attention of heavy music across the world.

Dropsaw - Victims Or Killers
Great songs and great production
make for a first grade package, so taking into account how spot on
Dropsaw’s live show is I don’t see any reason why these guys
can’t join Her Nightmare at the top of the Australian
hardcore heap.

Worms Of The Earth/The Surrogate - S/T
Splits are cool to listen to but shit to review because I end up feeling
like a jerk. Even though The Surrogate were overshadowed in this particular
case, they still demolish most other bands around and I’ll definitely
be keeping an eye out for them in future.

Thrice - The Alchemy Index: Volume III and IV
Overall The Alchemy Index Volume
III and IV isn’t a strong as its predecessor, but that’s not
to say it isn’t a fantastic record. Rather than beat us around the
head with thick riffs and swirling, psychedelic passages, Thrice
have crafted an album that manages to knock the listener for six in
a completely different way. Another essential release from one of our
generation’s most talented bands.

Kill Hannah - Until Theres Nothing Left Of Us
For all the record company driven
hype there isn’t anything overly impressive about this release, and
for the record, bragging about a band’s high number of MySpace friends
looks desperate. Better luck next time.

Emmure - The Respect Issue
Not many bands do this style of
music well and Emmure sure as hell isn’t one of them. Wait
another month and get yourself a copy of the new The Acacia Strain record.
Oh yeah, the artwork is appalling!

House VS Hurricane - Forfeiture
If this is a taste of things to
come then House VS Hurricane have a very bright future indeed.
Do yourself a favour and see these guys pull it off live!
