There's two sides of the fence here. Both have merit but arguably the prevailing one sees 'Darkness in the Light' as well-rounded and calculated. It's not 2011's sought after masterpiece but its not a letdown either. It's a reliable album, let's just leave it at that.

Unwritten Law have crafted a stunning, heavy album alive with defiance, swagger and accessible lyrics. Whilst their pop-punk roots are still evident, Swan sees the band maturing as musicians and as songwriters, and feels like they are bringing something new to the table while sticking to the sound that won over fans in the first place.

Underoath have changed, but it is for the better, and is well suited to the fan’s that have more than likely grown up a little, and will appreciate the heavier, more mature, direction the band have taken.
