Circle Takes the Square - Decompositions: Volume Number One
Circle Takes the Square deliver an assortment of tones and sensations on ‘Decompositions: Volume Number One’. At times it’s a cascading listen, at other equal moments a solemn experience. The constant though is fans should enjoy what’s offered.

Circle of Contempt - Entwine the Threads (EP)
The greatest strength of ‘Entwine the Threads’ is its recognisable, relatable and polished sound. The EP is manageable and a satisfactory listen, but it still feels like a similar instead of unique sound.

We Were Skeletons - Blame and Aging
Altogether, 'Blame & Aging' sees We Were Skeletons come firmly into their own skin, providing an extremely solid release that both wears its influences proudly on its sleeves while defiantly carving out a sound of their own, blending energetic chaos with technique and intricacy.

Capture The Crown - ‘Til Death
Capture The Crown’s debut album, ‘Til Death, is further evidence that Australian bands are capable of standing their ground and measuring up against some of the biggest international names in metalcore. This album may have its faults, but it’s still a solid start from a band relatively new on the scene.

Bayside - Covers, Vol. 1
The popularity of the pop-punk cover, thanks to "Punk Goes Pop" compilations, and New Found Glory’s "From The Screen To Your Stereo" recordings, has shown that a good pop song can easily be translated into a version with heavier guitars and driving drum beats. Bayside prove to be masters of this, with clever interpretations of some unlikely songs. As this is Volume One, hopefully we can look forward to at least one more of these in the near future, as we await another full length Bayside original album.

Pentimento - Pentimento
Pentimento’s debut full length is equal parts reflection and rage, holding all its power in its authenticity. It’s not a perfect album, but it’s a solid effort. Having set a high standard for themselves with their first record, this band are undoubtedly one to keep an eye on.

Death Audio - Death Audio
Another quality Australian release to add to the already extensive local pile in 2012. Death Audio’s self-titled debut is consistent and that is arguably the most important thing here.

How To Destroy Angels - An omen EP
It would be no surprise if ‘An omen’ is favoured over How To Destroy Angels debut self titled EP as it features both sounds and styles that Reznor fans will know and love while also pushing the musical boundaries of the group even further once again. This is a good taste of what will no doubt be an excellent full length next year.

Various Artists - Triple J's Like A Version Volume 8
There really aren't too many misses when looking over the playlist with most artists doing well to steer away from a standard replication of the songs chosen making 'Like A Version' Volume 8 a worthwhile use of the airwaves.

The Others - Sun And Sea
Let’s hope that the band can follow up this record with another impressive release in 2013, as well as a few more trips back to the East Coast to show us what we have been missing out on. Definitely a band to keep your eye on in the years to come, fingers crossed that this is just the beginning for them.
