Frank Turner - Last Minutes & Lost Evenings

Frank Turner - Last Minutes & Lost Evenings

The best part of the whole concert however is - the whole concert. Summed up poignantly by Turner with “Simon Cowell didn’t make a phone call to make this happen” in front of the 12,000 fans he worked his butt off to earn. The real music industry is far from lost.

Flying Lotus - Until the Quiet Comes

Flying Lotus - Until the Quiet Comes

Through collaboration and frequent use of live instrumentation, combined with his revered laptop production skills, Flying Lotus has produced what is quite possibly his most organic sounding album yet. Though 'Until the Quiet Comes' plays through with a seemingly effortless flow, it is in fact intricately constructed and ornate. It defines the sound of Los Angeles beat music, at least as it appears in one man's head.

Far Away Stables - Behind The Bookcase EP

Far Away Stables - Behind The Bookcase EP

It is clear that this band is willing to be adventurous, which is a very good thing, and they are not too far from pulling it off seamlessly. A little more experience and a better produced and mixed debut will see Far Away Stables rise very quickly in the Aussie alternative rock scene.

Far West Battlefront - Chapters

Far West Battlefront - Chapters

'Chapters' is a respectable debut offering. It's a little patchy and mundane in periods, but don't take this as a scathing criticism. The effort is there and the execution almost matches. Far West Battlefront are ones to watch not so much now but going forward. While 'Chapters' is definitely worth a look in, the band appear set to do most of their damage in the years ahead.

Fun. - Some Nights

Fun. - Some Nights

19.02.2012 | ohaiialaska | 0 Comments

With Some Nights it seems Fun. has found exactly the sort of band they want to be, and right from the opening track they are going to show you. Over 46 minutes Fun. take you through a new age rock opera, stretching and re working the limits and boundaries of the pop spectrum. With a soundscape made up of a variety of instruments and moods spanning across an assortment of genres, vocals that create depth and emotion even on their own and intelligent lyrics that paint a picture and urge you to relate, Some Nights has definitely lived up to the hype. It may have its shortcomings but overall Fun. has proved they are here to push boundaries and you will like it.
